BGIREGISTRATION AND FEE:  Pre-registration should be completed through www.getmeregistered.com, or go to the link provided on www.kidstriforkids.com.  The pre-registration fee is $30, and day-of-event registration is $45. Field is limited to 200 individuals. The event may be cancelled, delayed or re-formatted due to dangerous situations such as weather or other unforeseen circumstances; there will be no refunds in such cases.

USAT Membership:  This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national governing body for triathlons. All participants must be a USAT member to compete. You may obtain your USAT membership at Membership Services site before the race for $15.00 for the entire year. After you complete this process, you will be asked to print your temporary membership card. Please do so and bring this card with you to race registration. USAT race day memberships will also be available on day of the race, however paperwork will be required (may be lengthy) and cost $12.00 per race.

DSG_Generic_280x400PARKING:  Parking is only available in the grass just north of the Club’s paved lot.  There will be NO parking on the paved lot, except for vendor and emergency vehicles.

RACE PACKET PICK-UP & REGISTRATION : Participants who pre-register can pick up their packets at Runners’ Forum in Carmel the day before the race, July 3rd, between 4:00 and 6:00 PM.  Day of registration will open at 7:30 AM on July 4th and conclude at 9am. Race packets will include a t-shirt, race number, swim cap, and sponsor information.  Registration and Packet pick-up will be located in the parking lot near the start/finish line and transition area.  Proof of USAT membership must be provided, or new membership paperwork will need to be completed, along with membership fees.  When athletes register, we will also body mark them, write their race number on their arms and legs with a Sharpie. Athletes need to be registered by 9:00am to be prepared for the pre-race meeting. Please don’t plan to arrive at 9:00am, as you and your athlete will need to be able to attend to the meeting details, not setting up in the transition area.

PRE-RACE  MEETING:  A mandatory race meeting for all participants and parents/guardians will take place at 8:30 in the transition area.  The race will start immediately following the meeting at approximately 9:00am. Specific race start times will be available the morning of the race.

TRANSITION AREA: The transition area will be open from 7:30am until 9:00am. The transition area maps will be provided at registration.

START:  The first wave will start at 9am.  Each age-group wave will then start in waves according to the pre-determined time intervals.

RACE DISTANCES:  All distances are approximate. See posted course maps and descriptions at race site on race day for any changes to distances.  There in only one course set up for this race.  A single loop around the course for kids aged 10 and younger, and a double loop course for kids aged 11 and older.  The older kids (11 and older) will be directed to complete two loops for each segment.  Volunteers will be available at each turnaround to help guide participants.  The exception to this is during the Duathlon, runners on the first run segment, for all age groups, will complete only one loop.

However it us the responsibility of the participant to know the course and the number of loops completed.

RULES: This race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon.  Participants must know and follow the rules posted by USA Triathlon.  Visit http://www.usatriathlon.org for more information.   All participants must wear an approved bike helmet while on the bike.  This rule is strictly enforced by both the USAT and the race organizers. You will be disqualified if you do not wear a helmet. You MUST wear a helmet correctly and the chinstrap must be buckled anytime you are on your bike. For safety, triathletes need to wear their helmets properly and we will stop any racers who are not wearing their helmet correctly. This includes before, during, and after the race. If you are riding your bike from your car to the transition area, you must have your helmet properly on and buckled. Same for after the race. Parents, you too! Set a good example! You will be disqualified if you do not properly wear a helmet. You are responsible for providing your own helmet!

WALKING/RESTING:  Athletes may walk or stop to rest on the run course, but again this time will be counted towards their final time.

COURSE MARKING/VOLUNTEERS:  The run course will be marked so the athletes will know what direction to head, but we will also have volunteers on the course to help along the way. Keep the course markers on your left throughout the course.

Water/Aid Stations: Water/aid stations will be located at the transition area, and at the ¼ mile mark on the run. At the finish, all triathletes will receive a snack and there will be water available. There will be certified first-aid/CPR personnel available throughout the competition.

Weather:  If there is thunder or lightning at the start of the race, we will be delayed 30 minutes from the last lightning strike. If thunder or lightning occurs in the middle of the race, the event is immediately cancelled. Athletes will be pulled from the course. If the race is cancelled there will be no refunds.

RESULTS:  Results will be posted on the Kids Tri for Kids website, http://www.kidstriforkids.com.

PRIZES:  Prizes/medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers for each gender in every age group.  Finisher certificates will be awarded to all participants. [[[Awards for Duathlon]]]
